Your smile is the first thing that many people notice about you. A beautiful smile can create a lasting impression. That’s why Encino Family Dental in Encino, CA, offers comprehensive and cosmetic dental care. Our goal is to ensure you a beautiful smile and an unmatched dental experience. One of the services we offer is dental veneers.

What Are Dental Veneers?

Veneers are a relatively simple procedure. They are just a thin covering that we place over your existing tooth to mask or correct any imperfections and discoloration and give your tooth a more natural shape.
When it comes to veneers, you have a range of options to choose from. Different materials can be used, each with their own benefits, and Dr. Yassa can discuss these at length with you to determine what is best to get you the most fitting and natural results. The final results will have you smiling proud.

What Do Veneers Do?

You can have dental veneers for different purposes. Some of the problems that these additions can fix include:
  • Stained teeth
  • Chipped, ground-down, or otherwise worn teeth
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Crooked teeth
  • Large or uneven gaps between teeth
Veneers can be a relatively quickly cosmetic fix for any minor tooth issue. If you want an easy way to enjoy a beautiful, straight, and white smile, come to our office and talk to us.

What’s the Process?

Each dentist does things a little differently, but for the most part, the steps to get a veneer are simple and straightforward. At Encino Dentist need to get a model of your tooth during your first visit. After a few weeks, the mold is complete, and you can come back to have it polished, cleaned, matched to your other teeth’s color, and bonded to your tooth. After that, you simply enjoy the benefits of your new tooth.

Types of Veneers

There are two types of veneers, each with their own benefits. However, both can bring enormous benefits to your smile, giving your teeth a uniform shape and color.

Composite Veneers

The first type is a composite veneer. This option is easier to repair but can change color over time. They allow for a faster turnaround, though. Giving you a noticeable change in your smile at a lower cost.

Porcelain Veneers

Made based off of a mold of your teeth, porcelain veneers last longer than composite ones. They may take more time, but they can lend your teeth a more natural brightness and maintain their hue better over time.

Caring for Veneers

Much like your teeth themselves, veneers require care and attention. The good news is that cleaning and caring for them is almost identical to caring for your teeth.
However, do choose a non-abrasive toothpaste and soft-bristled toothbrush. Brushing and flossing will need to be consistent parts of your daily routine.
The one difference is that you might want to switch your dental tools up. If you already use a soft-bristled toothbrush with a non-abrasive toothpaste, then you are all set. Otherwise, switching might be a good idea. Harsher bristles and toothpaste can potentially wear down your veneers over time.
